The Murboden cattle are a mountain breed that is primarily employed for milk and meat production. But they are also excellent as animals.

Presently the Murboden cattle are primarily consumed in Austria, Lower Austria, Carinthia and in bordering Slovenia.

The breed is called Pomurska in Slovenia, and a few tiny purebred herds have lived there.

The Murboden cattle are moderate to large-sized animals. Their hair color varies from yellow to reddish or gray.

And there are darker red spots round eyes the horns and across the nose. Both cows and bulls usually have horns.

The height of these bulls vary from approximately 130 to 140 cm for the cows, along with 140 to 150 cm.

The normal bodyweight of the bulls is roughly 1200 kg. Along with the cows weigh between 700 and 800 kg.

Murboden cattle breed benefits

Murboden cattle are multi-purpose creatures. They are used for milk and beef production. And they are also appropriate for use as animals.

Origin

It is stated that the Murboden breed is a mix of mountain cattle breeds that were older.

These local breeds that are elderly comprise Murztal Cattle, residing in Ennstal Mountain Pieds, the Mur Valley, and Carinthian Blondvieh.

A herdbook for its Murboden cattle was created in 1869. And breeding for a uniform type began in the nineteenth century.

The overall population of this strain diminished after World War II, and there has been crossing with other breeds.

And their number began to increase at the beginning of the 1980s, together with the Austrian government running a conservation system.
